The Diplomatic Insight Weekly: 7th-13th Nov

Hello Reader

The Abraham Accords have tilted toward Central Asia until Trump figures out a way through the complex Gulf & Middle Eastern region.

Every attempt at brokering normalization between Israel and the region's Muslim-majority countries circles back to the textbook history lessons - the two-state solution, the disputed Golan Heights, the maps and lines which were arbitrarily drawn.

Syrian President's White House appearance was no final word on the fate of the disputed land between itself & Israel.

The Saudi Crown Prince, coming to Washington in a few days, brings along the same stance on Palestinian statehood.

Can Trump bring a different recipe to the table; one that does not involve decades-long wars? We will have to wait & see.

Here’s your weekly roundup of the week’s most important stories, news, and articles from The Diplomatic Insight.

Women All Across the World Resonate With the Mexican President

When does a woman actually feel safe? Perhaps when she's a President, a CEO, in any position of power?

For President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, this doesn't seem to be the case. She was touched inappropriately in broad daylight by a drunken man while interacting with public.

She pushed the man away as her staff quickly intervened. Her experience felt both familiar and shocking to millions of women who know what it is like to have their boundaries violated so openly.

China’s re-emergence on the world stage commands growing international attention.

From the ancient Silk Road to the viral success of Black Myth: Wukong, Chinese heritage has long crossed borders. Since “Culture” was added to the CCP’s Four Confidences in 2016, China has positioned itself as not only a geopolitical actor but also a cultural force.

China’s influence has long been rooted in its civilisational legacy of knowledge, trade, and innovation.

Yet deeper questions remain:

  • How did Chinese philosophy, martial arts, and religion become early instruments of soft power?
  • What role has the diaspora played in promoting Chinese culture abroad, and how have nostalgia and evolving identity shaped new expressions of it?
  • To what extent is modern Chinese culture an organic product of civilisation and to what extent does deliberate statecraft guide it?
